Aging Softness
You read my words…
Of poetry…into the early
Morning hours,
Tears found your eyes,
On several occasions…
Reading deep into my soul,
A place you’ve been…
For what seems eternity.
A part of me I never shared
With others…until recently,
I hope you’ve noticed…
You are one…
Of a chosen few.
A gift from me to you,
For the love and trust
That has developed
Between us.
I value your opinion
And critique…if any.
As you’ve witnessed
So many times
In recent years…
I’m courageous enough,
To express my feelings
Of love and admiration…
But seldom do I reveal
Feelings of fear and uncertainty…
With you there is no reason,
You know when you see them,
I appreciate that you do not
Bring them to light…
Simply…tactfully…always,
Saying something encouraging
And reassuring.
Have you ever noticed…
Or is it just I…
Who sees how our love
For each other solidifies,
But never hardens…
It only gets softer,
As we do…
In each other’s arms...
With age and time.
